Description: Apart from the collection of 'Classical Manuscripts' made up by Fritz Kreisler (1875-1962) and passed off by him as transcriptions of movements by old masters, the violonist published initial works extremely early. Kreisler himself preferred to play them as encore pieces, sweetening many a performance with such pieces of 'musical confectionary'. The most popular minis are unquestionably 'Love's Joy' and 'Love's Sorrow', two 'old Viennese dance-tunes' where Kreisler evoked the coffee-house environment of his home town with fantastic melodies and seductive harmonies. The minis are endearing, lively and catchy, yet with an elegiac air - however full of appeal and beauty. These stunning hair salon pieces are now readily available in an arrangement for viola and piano by Wolfgang Birtel.Pages: 22
